It’s my last newsletter of the year!!!!! In this one I tell you all about my plans for sewing patterns. I also have some news about purchasing patterns with alternative payment methods such as Bancontact, Ideal, … . There’s news about my Barbie pattern that I hope to finish next week. Of course I have a tip of the week for you and I my smart watch and what I found out because of this watch.

Sewing patterns

I have decided to make sewing patterns for Barbie dresses in the coming year. So many of you like to sew and would like to sew Barbie dresses so I’m gonna give it a go. With a background in sewing pattern drafting I’m sure I can come up with lovely designs. The patterns will then be available in digital form here on Craftygenesindonesia and on Etsy.

My new crochet Barbie pattern

As you may know by now, I am working on a crochet Barbie pattern that will include a pattern for Ken as well. You get to guess what it is and 1 person that guessed it right will get the pattern for free.

I will give you 1 hint: it involves quite a bit of yarn. So definitely not a tiny summer outfit.

I really hope to get the pattern ready by end of next week but I doubt that will be possible. I think it will be for the week after. But what I am sure of is that it will be amazing!

Alternative payments

I have added new options to pay on my website = Bancontact, Ideal, Sofort, Eps, Giropay, Sepa, … . Because of my location I was only able to add these forms of payment in a form. You can have a look at the form here: Alternative Payments Form – Craftygenesindonesia

All you need to do is fill in the form with your name, email, name of pattern(s) you would like to purchase and what they cost in total. In the last field you will then see the total amount appear automatically. It can take a second or 2 so be patient 😊 After that you click on the button for the preferred payment method. You’ll then see a round PayPal logo for a second and will then be redirected to the app or site of your preferred payment method where you can then pay for your purchase. I will immediately get a message that tells me you have purchased and what you have purchased. As soon as I see the message I will send it to the email address you entered in the form. Easy isn’t it.

This allows you to pay with something else than PayPal, credit card or bank transfer. My sister and aunt have both tested the system without any help or explanations from me and they were both successful. So I am 100% sure you can too 😉.

Smart watch

I got this (cheap) smart watch because I have hearing problems and often don’t hear notifications from my phone. A customer then sends me a message and I don’t reply because I did not hear the notification. So embarrassing for me. My kids told me I should get a smart watch that sends the notifications from my phone to my watch. Every time a message comes in the watch vibrates. Brilliant solution for my hearing problems so I went to get that watch. A cheap one of course= Redmi Watch 2 Lite. Here’s some links for you in case you want to have a look at them:

I can even swim with this watch on!!! It counts the pool lengths I swim 😯😯😯😯.

While I was crocheting last week I noticed I burn more calories than when I am working on my computer. It surprised me a bit because during both activities I sit most of the time and only move my hands and arms. Still, I burned more calories during crocheting. That is a very welcome surprise to me 😁😁😁. So next time someone asks you can you can sit and crochet for hours, you can tell them it’s to burn calories 😉😂😂😂.

New Year’s Eve

Tonight is New Year’s Eve. Not going anywhere because traffic will be disastrous. Here it is a bad combination of 3 things = 1 the last Sunday before kids go back to school + 2 it’s Sunday so most people don’t have to work + 3 it’s New Year’s Eve. That is a really bad combination for people living at a very busy main street and the only street that connect the rest of the island with the party part of the island. It can mean only 1 thing = the worst imaginable traffic. There is no way that I will drive through that so I am staying home. There will be plenty of fireworks from hotels all around me so I get to watch a wonderful show of FREE fireworks. And then straight to bed because I am not one that can stay awake easily. Most nights I’m in bed by 9pm.

Only in Indonesia

This week’s only in Indonesia pictures are of last week’s Christmas and some other things

Picture 1: That lady sells fresh coconut water next to the street and I buy coconut water from her all the time. You can just stop right in front of her with your car, open your window and ask for some coconut water.

Picture 2: Right next to this lady is a guy who sits there all day waiting for someone’s car to get a flat tire. He’ll pump it for you for a small fee.

Tip of the week

This week’s tip of the week is a video about crocheting around the chain. You see this a lot in my patterns. You first make a chain and then my pattern asks you to crochet around the chain. I made a video about that for those who need a visional explanation of this.
