My newsletter, 14 January 2024

by | Jan 14, 2024 | 14 comments

I almost wrote 2023 in the title of this newsletter πŸ₯΄ I’m still getting used to having to write 2024 instead of 2023. Anyway, I have new section for my newsletter. It’s the Weekly Stitch. Every week I’ll choose a YouTube video about a new stitch. This way we can all learn new stitches. I also tell about the new pattern I’m working on. And the one I just finished. I have a great tip of the week and something about that new button on my website.

My patterns

I am already working on a new pattern. It’s a bit of a mess though. I have started over 6 times already. Each time it was not totally what I wanted. I’ll get there though and when it’s ready it will be amazing. Wish me luck 😊.

And there’s my newest pattern “Be My Valentine”. Have a look at the picture below to see what I’m talking about:

crochet Valentine cupcake with heart, cookies and roses

That’s the pattern. A simple but beautiful Valentine’s crochet pattern. Click on the button below if you are interested in this fun pattern.

As of now the pattern is available in English, Dutch, French and Spanish. Click on the pink Whatsapp button in the righthand corner of the bottom of the screen if you would like it in a different language (at no extra charge of course).

Posting a review

I quickly want to tell that I made it far easier to post a review on the pattern product pages of my website. It’s much clearer now and easier to find. You just scroll down on any pattern product page of this website and you’ll see the reviews section. When you post a review you will receive an email with a discount code as soon as your review has been approved. We all love a discount don’t we 😊

That deleted payment form

Oh my, what a disaster that was. I had so hoped to add additional payment methods on my website. I had added that extra button that took you to a payment form where you could pay with Bancontact, Ideal, … . It was tested so well and nothing went wrong during testing. But then when customers used it, the payments did not go through. I really have absolutely no idea why or how. It’s a total mystery.

I do still have my bank transfer form and the normal way of paying with ‘add to cart’ and then the checkout page. That all works absolutely perfectly fine. So if you want to purchase a pattern, don’t worry because it all works. That mess of an extra button with extra form have already been deleted. Any payment buttons and forms you see on my website now work completely 100% as they should. Even for customers.

Donation button

I have added a donation button in the footer of my website = completely at the bottom. It’s also here on the newsletter page. If you scroll down a bit you’ll find a cute pink donation button. And it’s also on the pattern product pages. All these donation buttons lead you to my “Buy Me A Coffee” page where you can donate. Donating is not mandatory at all. So don’t worry, nobody will shame you if you don’t donate. I only added this option because my readers and customers were asking for it. Donating is in EURO. With donations I would be able to spend more time on making free patterns and CAL’s. Now that would be nice would it not?

Weekly Stitch

Here it is. The new newsletter section. This week’s video comes from the “Meladora’s Creations for Crochet” YouTube channel. The video itself is in English but subtitles are available in the video settings. So it won’t be a problem if you don’t speak English. The video in question is about “Fan crochet stitch”. I don’t know what this stitch is called in other languages. It looks very nice though and so I chose this one for this week’s weekly stitch.

Tip of the week

This is an important one. When you make crochet (or knitted) Barbie dress, CHECK THE GAUGE or tension. Please do not assume that just because you use the same yarn and hook that it will end up exactly the same size as the dress in the pattern. If you crochet much looser than me, your Barbie dress will be bigger than mine and won’t fit properly then. If you choose yarn that is thicker than mine than you definitely need to check to gauge to see which hook you then need to achieve the same gauge as me. Making a test square to check the gauge is so incredibly important when making Barbie clothing. It really is.

That’s it for this week. Thank you for reading and do let me know what you think of it in the reactions section below. See you next week ❀️❀️
