Yarn bowls
I have seen yarn bowls all over social media. People keep on saying how useful these things are. I’m a bit of a cheapskate and thought “why not use a bucket” 😂, but then I saw one on sale so I got one anyway. It hasn’t been delivered yet but it looks like the one in the picture below:
I’ll let you know what I think of it. I’ve never used this kind of thing before. It can’t be bad since so many people keep talking about it. Do you have one? If you do, please let me know in the comments section below what your experience is with yarn bowls.

Strange weather and fainting
You may have noticed the weather is slightly off in many parts of the world. I hear in places where they expected snow, there isn’t any. In places where it should be freezing, it’s cold but not freezing cold. There’s flooding too in parts of the world. Where I am it’s hot. Even though it’s always hot here, this week it’s extremely hot. And 1 short rain in 2 weeks time. It’s monsoon season = should be raining almost every day. Last year in December there were times it rained nonstop for 48 hours. But this year it’s very dry. And hot, crazy hot!
This morning I went to church for the 4th Advent Sunday mass. It was only 7am when the sweating was pouring from me. I looked like I had forgotten to dry myself after my shower. Even my underwear was soaked. And no, I did not wet myself 😂😂😂😂 It was extremely hot inside the church. 2 people even fainted from the heat. And this was in the morning. This even I’m going back to church for the Christmas Eve mass. It will be even hotter then. And because they’re expecting well over 1000 people to attend mass it will be packed. People will have to sit with 8 on a bench. We’ll be packed like sardines. In a very hot church. I can only imagine how many people will be carried out after fainting.
There will be nurses on standby and several of the churchgoers are doctors. So anyone not feeling well will be tended to immediately.
Unfortunately there will also be police officers and soldiers (all armed) on standby. They’re already there since this morning and will be there till Tuesday. This is for safety.
I cannot wait till it’s time. For me Christmas Eve mass is a magical combination of Christmas decorations, songs in Latin, Christmas songs sung together by over 1000 people and lots and lots of happy people. It’s my favorite time of the year .😊😊😊🎄🎄
Only In Indonesia
This week this is a video instead of pictures. It’s a video of the Christmas Eve mass of last year in my church. Don’t worry I’m not trying to make you go to church 😂😂😂 Whether you are religious or not does not matter😊 I just want to show it because some of you have asked to see what it’s like. If you fast forward in the video to 5.54 minutes, you’ll see me trying to stand still (I cannot stand still so that was hard for me). I’m easy to spot since I was the only white one sitting in front 😁.
**Ignore how bad the choir sounds. They sounded amazing in church but because of a bad sound system it sounds terrible on YouTube. I was horrified when I watched the video after mass. It’s a pity it sounds so bad on YouTube because they sang so well. All that practicing they did only to sound like that on YouTube 😧🥴
You probably won’t understand a word because it’s pretty much all in Indonesian. And you’ll notice masks. Last year on Christmas we were not yet allowed to gather without masks. The law demanded we wear one or stay home.
The priest in this video has now moved to Brazil. He is a priest in a Catholic church somewhere in the Amazon.
Tip of the week
I’m sure everyone has started a crochet project and then put it aside because you had to wait to finish it. And then by the time you start again you completely forget with which crochet hook it needs to be crocheted. Or you forgot the yarn colors, brand, which pattern it was,… . There’s an easy way to prevent that = store your project in a zip Lock bag or a shoe box or something else with on a paper:
- The hook size
- Name of pattern and it’s designer
- The yarn brand
- The yarn colors
- Any additional information you will need to know
Easy isn’t it?

Heel veel onafgewerkte projecten waarvan ik niet meer weet wat het moest worden. Soms weet ik het wel, maar waar het patroon is gebleven dan weer geen idee.

Ik heb een notitieboekje met info. Naam project, welk patroon, waar gevonden, welke kleuren, welke haaknaald etc etc.
Als ik al mijn lopende projecten van nu af heb en dat zijn er zeker 5 😇 dan wil ik aan de tropische kerstman beginnen, heb hem al uitgeprint 🤗

Een notitieboekje ook een heel goed idee. Gewoon iets proberen te herinneren lukt toch niet als men veel onafgewerkte projecten heeft.
