My newsletter, 10 December 2023

by | Dec 10, 2023 | 15 comments

Not sure where to start this week. It’s been a hectic week. Exams, infection, puppies, decorating, new pattern, … and lots more. All that in 1 week. And that monstrously bad air conditioner. Yikes that was a mess. All that is in the newsletter. And of course there’s an amazing second Advent discount, a great tip of the week and my “Only In Indonesia” weekly pictures. Last but not least I changed my website completely and that was quite something!

New pattern

I have a new pattern coming next week. I won’t tell yet what it is but I will tell you that I absolutely love it!!!! I showed it to my sister already and she loved it too.

It will be available on Wednesday next week and there will be a very nice discount on it but only for a day. So mark your calendar to ensure you don’t miss that discount on Wednesday.

This is all I will tell you about the new pattern. Feel free to guess what it is in the reactions below this newsletter. I’m curious to see what you will guess.

Second Advent discount

This is an amazing discount= 3.99€ instead of 5.99€. And only today so be quick.

The discount is on my gingerbread house pattern from last year. Have a look below here:

That’s the discounted product. It’s available in English, Dutch, Spanish and French with more languages coming soon.

Click on the button below if you prefer purchasing the pattern with a simple bank transfer or just purchase it here on my Craftygenesindonesia website.

*The discount is valid only here on Craftygenesindonesia and by bank transfer.

My interesting week

I had quite a week. It started last week with high fever. My kids all had been sick and so it was expected that I would get the virus too. And I did. High fever first. I thought that fever and some coughing + runny nose would be the worst of it. But then beginning this week I started to feel worse instead of better. You don’t want to know my symptoms. It wasn’t pretty. Anyway, it turned out my lovely cold had turned into a lung and throat infection. And while I was dealing with that, I also had 3 kids who had exams + I worked on that new pattern I told you about + I decorated my house even more. It was a bit much but I got through it. I always tell myself “it could have been worse”. Which is true. Lots of people are dealing with a lot worse than a lung infection.

There was something less nice though. The air conditioner in my room broke down and I had to get a new one. No, that’s not the worst part of it. The worst part of it is that the newly installed air conditioner was not cooling my room. So I had to go back to the store and demand a new one. Easier said than done. Here in Indonesia you don’t return things you already bought. That just isn’t done here. So you can imagine the store owner was not happy when I showed up… I must have worn the lady down because she gave up after I complained (in a respectful manner of course) a LOT. Now I have a proper air conditioner. And it’s a good thing because this week it suddenly got a lot warmer. Sorry people in cold countries reading this…yes, it’s hot here.

Here comes the best part of the week: I have puppies. A street dog decided my garden was where she wanted to live. And give birth. Turns out she had little puppies in her belly. Now I have dog + 4 puppies. And they’re already running around. So cute!

My website

You have probably noticed that my website looks different. That’s because I changed some things that were too expensive. 300euro per year is too much and especially for here. So I got rid of those costly programs on my website and replaced them with not only way cheaper but also better ones. My website now works faster and costs me far less.

It took my 2 days of working on my website from 4.30 am till 10pm. Exhausting I must say. Especially when dealing with a lung infection. But I’m so glad I did it. I’m really happy with the results.

Contacting me is now easier with that chat button in the righthand corner on the bottom of your screen here on this website. When you click on that you will get several options to message me. Easy isn’t it?

One thing went wrong though with my website: my comments and reviews disappeared. Yikes. All gone. So feel free to add some comments and reviews. And yes, even if you bought my pattern on Etsy, Haked, Ravelry or with a bank transfer, you can still post a review here.

Only in Indonesia

I got some good pictures again for you!

Picture 1: 2 of my puppies. I have no idea when they were born. I just suddenly saw puppies following that street dog I told you about. She must have given birth somewhere behind the garage because that’s where I first saw those puppies. That’s the thing with street dogs in this country. They give birth anywhere and everywhere.

Picture 2: That’s how people transport things here. You pull a cart while sitting backwards on a motorcycle. Crazy!

Picture 3: Now that’s even crazier. That pickup is full of people in the back and there’s even 1 standing. You can imagine what would happen if that pickup suddenly stopped or got in an accident. Those people would end up on the street. And yes, this has happened before. I’ve seen people standing up in the back and then falling on the street. This is just crazy dangerous and people continue to do it even though they know the risks.

Tip of the week:

This week my tip of the week comes in the form of a video. People often ask me how I attach arms to amigurumi dolls. It’s really simple and you can see how I do that in my video below:

That’s it for this week. I would love to know what you think about it. Let’s fill up the missing comments with some new ones.
Thank you for reading and see you next week ❤️❤️❤️

  3. Goedemorgen.

Mijn nieuw patroon is gehaakt. Het vorige patroon was gebreid.
