I have so much to tell this week that I'll probably have to keep some of it for next week. Would not want you to fall asleep halfway through this newsletter now would we?

A question by someone

A while ago someone asked if I ever copy Ai generated crochet images...The short answer to that is : absolutely not!

The long answer to this question is: no and for these reasons:

1. I have plenty of imagination that I can use to come up with new ideas for new crochet (or knitting) patterns.
2. I want nothing to do with Ai. To be honest, I call it the devil's work. Bit dramatic I guess but Ai is used to scam people and to put honest people out of work. Then there's also the terrible environmental footprint it has. It's using up so much water (that we could put to better use), it's using up vast amounts of electricity, it disrupts local habitats, .... . And then there's the fact that so many medical students use Ai to do their homework and answer exams...these people will be our doctors in the future. That scares me.
3. Ai generated crochet items are often made by Ai based on real crochet work by other people. If I were to then copy an Ai crochet item and make a real crochet pattern for it, it would be considered against copyright laws. I don't want the original designer to file a lawsuit against me. That very popular Ai generated angel crochet pattern I see all over Facebook and Temu and other places....guess what...that is an illegal Ai copy of a real angel crochet pattern!!! That is why when people asked me to make a crochet pattern for that cute angel, I refused each time.
4. I was born with a functioning brain...I don't need Ai to do the job of my brain.

To help you read crochet pattern rows, I've got 3 examples here for you:
