Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...wherever you are, I hope you're having a good day. In this week's newsletter I have a nice surprise for you = you get a chance to win my new crochet pattern that should be out next week. There's also something about my new website and at the request of a lovely customer: I am back with my "news from home" section.
RealCrochetPatterns.com
That is the name of my new website. RealCrochetPatterns.com is a searchable catalog of real, human-made crochet patterns from original designers and sellers. It is not a pattern shop. The patterns are displayed in the catalog so crocheters can discover and browse them, and the “View now” button takes them directly to the original, official shop or selling point from the designer, where the pattern is available.
The main purpose is to give crocheters a place to find genuine crochet patterns and avoid the growing problem of having to see and scroll through a bunch of AI-generated and stolen patterns. Every pattern in the catalog is checked to make sure it is a real pattern and comes from the original designer or seller.
Invite Your Favorite Crochet Designers!
Do you have a favorite crochet designer whose patterns deserve more attention? Invite them to join RealCrochetPatterns.com and showcase their real, human-made crochet patterns in our growing catalog.
It's completely free for designers to showcase their patterns on our website! Their patterns can be discovered by more crocheters, and every listing links directly to the designer's original shop or selling page.
Remember: RealCrochetPatterns.com is a catalog, not a shop. No patterns are sold or downloaded here. We help crocheters discover genuine patterns and direct them to the original designers and sellers.
Know a designer who should be here? Share RealCrochetPatterns.com with them and help more people discover their work!
Fun fact: You as a crochet fan get to make a wishlist on the website!
Found a crochet pattern you love but aren't ready to make it yet? Add it to your wishlist so you can easily find it again next time, without having to search all over the website.
You can view the website HERE.
Note: as if now the website can be view in English and Dutch. I am working on making the website in at least 7 languages to make it easier for users to search in their own language and find what they are looking for.
Note 2: I am still working on adding more crochet patterns to the website. So far I have added just over 60. Every day I add more. At the moments it's those by myself = Craftygenesindonesia, and those by Margot from Haked.nl. I hope to have all on the website in the next 2 weeks. And I definitely hope some other designers will have joined the site by then. The more the merrier! It will make your searching for real and not stolen crochet patterns so much easier.

New crochet pattern & a chance to win it
Next week I will have my new crochet pattern available online. I will not yet tell what it is. You get a chance to win it by guessing what it will be. I will give just 2 hints = it is for Christmas and it's colorful.
In the comments section below you get to tell me what you think it will be. 1 person that guesses correctly will get the crochet pattern for FREE from me by email 🥳🥳. The winner will be chosen and announced the day before the crochet pattern is released.
For those who did not win: this new crochet pattern will be on sale for the first 3 days that it's online. There will be a nice 20% discount on it so be quick. Don't wait till day 4 🫣.
To make sure you don't miss the release of this new crochet pattern, there are a few things you can do:
- Keep an eye on my Facebook group: Haken met Sofie's Haakpatronen. The release will be announced there
- Check my Craftygenesindonesia website (= this website) daily after coming Wednesday.
- Sign up for the "new Craftygenesindonesia pattern release" notification by email on Haked.nl. This can be done on the page of each Craftygenesindonesia pattern on Haked.nl. News from home
A lovely fan (and very loyal customer) of mine asked me to bring back my "news from home". I thought that was a wonderful idea so here I am with it.
You may already know that I live in Indonesia. The island of Lombok to be precise. Because of the El Niño weather system, we're dealing with a severe drought. In many place people have been reduced to walking VERY FAR to get a bucket of water. Some even wash their laundry with sea water. Wells, rivers, streams, ..all dry. The government still supplies water where they can but even that is slowing down because the water reserve is done by 65% already. End of next week it will have been 5 MONTHS nonstop without rain. It was suggested I should do a rain dance but I'm afraid the clouds would fly away as fast as they can the minute I start dancing 😬
Rain will come soon I think. It's very cloudy every day. Those clouds will get too heavy at some point and release the water on what will be an extremely happy island.
Despite this severe drought, my roses have survived and are blooming (pictures below...had to show them because they are so pretty). I have been watering them with rice water and sometimes a bit of coffee grounds mixed with water. That really does wonders!

That's it for this week. Thank you for reading. Don't forget to guess what the new crochet pattern will be. You don't want to miss your chance at winning it.
See you next week ❤️
