Amadea Shawl (free)

by | Aug 17, 2024 | 0 comments

This is a FREE crochet pattern for a simple shawl that is quick to complete. It is also an easy pattern with super low count and so perfect if you are looking for a very little counting project. For beginners, this is definitely doable too.

The yarn

These yarns are milk cotton yarn which can be easily found on AliExpress, Amazon, Temu, … am sure also in Belgium and the Netherlands. Just don’t know what they call these yarns. Take a look at the picture below:

This is the yarn I used. It is 100gram per ball and about 193meter. Here is a link to that yarn on Ali: 1 Stuk 100G Cakegaren Regenboog Katoenen Garen Segment Verven 5 Strengen Van Melk Katoenen Garen Diy Hand Gebreid – AliExpress 15

Supplies:

  1. Crochet hook: 3.5mm
  2. Yarn: 1600m or 800gr if you use the same yarn
  3. Stitch marker
  4. Tapestry needle
  5. Scissors

Gauge: 4 stitches x 4 rows per 2.5×2.5cm/1inch

Should you want to use different yarn but still want the scarf to be the same size as mine, be sure to make a test piece to test if your yarn is the right gauge.

Measurements of shawl: 165cm x 55cm = a rectangular shawl

Abbreviations:

  1. Ch: chain
  2. Slst: slip stitch
  3. Sc: single crochet
  4. DC: double crochet
  5. FPDC: front post double crochet
  6. BPDC: back post double crochet
  7. BLO: back loops only
  8. FLO: front loops only

YouTube Video:

In this video I show how I make the front post and back post double crochet. The video is in English

Row 2: start in the 2nd ch from the hook: 250sc, ch1 and turn

Row 3: FLO: 250dc, ch2 and turn

Row 4: *2FPDC, 6dc, 2FPDC* repeat till the end, ch2 and turn (250)

ROw 5: *2BPDC, 6dc, 2BPDC* repeat till the end, ch2 and turn (250)

  • Repeat row 4-5 till you have a total of 68 rows
  • Do not turn after row 68

Row 69: make dc all around the shawl in all 4 sides and make 2 extra dc in each corner

  • Continue in continuous rows

Row 70: BLO: make sc all around the shawl in all 4 sides and make 2 extra sc in each corner

  • Make 1slst in the first stitch

That’s it! It’s an easy shawl isn’t it?
