I've had quite a week! My new crochet pattern is done and already available online (and on sale till tomorrow). I also found a simple and easy way to check if a picture of a crochet pattern is real or not. There's also news from home and news from my new Real Crochet Patterns website.

My new pattern

I'll start with that first. Here's my new crochet pattern:

About the crochet pattern: it's available in English (US & UK terms), Dutch, French, Spanish, German and Italian. Let me know if you need it in a different language.

You can get the crochet pattern here:

  1. Craftygenesindonesia (with PayPal and Credit Card): https://craftygenesindonesia.com/shop/3d-crochet-patterns/vintage-santa-car-trailer/
  2. Haked.nl (with Bancontact, Ideal, SEPA, KBC, bank transfer (to her Dutch bank account): https://haked.nl/product/haakpatroon-vintage-kerstman-auto-aanhangwagen/
  3. Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4595811112/vintage-santa-car-trailer-digital?etsrc=sdt
  4. Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/vintage-santa-car-and-trailer
  5. Payhip: https://payhip.com/b/1Jgpi

About those mini Christmas wreaths on the car....I got those on sale last year in a local store. They were some of the last Christmas decorations they still had available. If you are unable to find any, then you make your own mini Christmas wreaths with metallic colored pipe cleaners:

Most store selling crafts items, will have these. They're also available in online stores like Ali, Amazon, Walmart, ... If you're in the Netherlands or Belgium, then you can get them on Bol, Haked.nl, ... Really a lot of places.

All you have to do with these pipe cleaners is twist 1 or 2 together into a small circle and you got a nice little Christmas wreath. You can even tie a bit of yarn around it and use them as Christmas ornaments in your Christmas tree! While we are on that subject, the gifts that are in my Santa car and trailer, are of a good size to be used as ornaments in your Christmas tree.

Scan an image to see if it's real

I found that Google lens (or camera) is really quite good at telling me whether a crochet pattern is real or not. There are several different way to use it:

If on a computer or laptop:

  1. Save the image to your computer or laptop
  2. Go to google.com
  3. Next to the search bar click on that little camera icon (see first image below)
  4. Next you will see a screen asking you to upload a file or image....upload your image here
  5. Now you will see the image that you upload and right above it there is a small text bar (see my second picture where I uploaded an image of my Chenice Christmas angel...which is most definitely a real crochet pattern)...in this text bar you will see "add to your search" or something similar. There you ask: "is this crochet pattern real". Then click on enter and google will show the results. If the crochet pattern is real, it will tell you where it is available (see my picture 3 under here with the results of my Chenice angel check = real obviously because I don't do fake stuff). If it's fake, Google will definitely tell you and also tell you why it's definitely fake

If you're on a mobile device or tablet:

  1. Download the Google Lens app
  2. The process of uploading and asking the "is this a real crochet pattern" question and getting the results, is the same as in my short tutorial above here for with a computer.

Note: if you are not so good with all these apps and so on, just email me the link to the pattern and I will check it for you. I don't mind at all...even if it's 25 links or images that you send. I really don't mind helping fellow crocheters. You can email me at craftygenesindonesia@gmail.com

My new website

In last week's website I told you about my new website = RealCrochetPatterns.com. RealCrochetPatterns.com is a place to find real crochet patterns from designers around the world. Instead of spending hours searching different websites, you can browse patterns in one place and discover designs you might otherwise have missed.

Note: this RealCrochetPatterns.com website is a catalog, not a shop. I don't sell patterns or host pattern files on there. Every listing takes you to the original designer's website or shop, where you can view the pattern and buy it if you wish.

You can leave reviews, save patterns to your wishlist and come back to them whenever you're ready for your next project. Crochet designers are also welcome to showcase their patterns on the website for free. So if you know a crochet pattern designer that should be on that website of mine, let them know about it. So far I already have 2 designers that have joined the website and every day I put new crochet patterns in the catalog.

I started RealCrochetPatterns because finding genuine crochet patterns online isn't always as easy as it should be. Fake AI patterns and stolen designs are a real problem, and it's not always obvious what you're actually buying. That's why the website also has a Naughty List, which highlights sellers of fake AI patterns and stolen designs. You can even report fake or stolen patterns to the naughty list!

The idea is simple: make it easier for crocheters to find real patterns and for designers to get their work seen.

Extra bit: I am working on adding a forum to RealCrochetPatterns.com so people can ask questions like whether or not a pattern is real or stolen. I hope to get this forum in the coming week.

News from home

Still no rain....5 long months without any rain at all. This is totally nuts!!!!! My roses are still doing good though and smelling sooooooo good. When the wind is in the direction of my room, the whole room smells to roses...and jasmines...got those too and they're blooming!

I've already started another Christmas crochet pattern. This one is once again something unique and very Craftygenesindonesia. I will need to find a way to keep my cat away from my yarn though. Kitty loves playing with it.

I have a question for a crochet or knitting pattern I want to make. I found nice yarn on sale last year but I am not sure what to do with it. Here's a picture of the yarn:

The yarn is very soft, bulk acrylic, size 4 and the suggested crochet hook is 5mm (UK 6, US 8) or 5mm knitting needles. Got several skeins of this yarn.

What do you think I should make with it? Let me know in the comments below..

That's it for this week. See you next time ❤️
