In this crochet stitch tutorial I show you how to make the simple and easy “single crochet”. It’s the most used crochet stitch there is I think. You’ll need it for everything from blanket, handbags, … to amigurumi dolls. And good news! It’s an easy stitch!!
First up is my YouTube video about the single crochet (yarn over version). Feel free to subscribe to my channel (it’s free!) and don’t forget to click on that lovely like button.
Next up is the step by step pictures tutorial. This single crochet is the yarn over version. That means you pull the yarn over your hook. Click here if you would like to learn to make the yarn under single crochet stitch.
When making the single crochet, it’s important that you pay attention to the tension of your yarn. Uneven stitches will show. But if you practice a bit, you’ll definitely be able to make really nice stitches in no time.

If you’re a beginner, I suggest you learn the YARN UNDER single crochet next. This one is a single crochet too but instead of pulling the yarn through over the hook, you pull it through under the hook. The yarn under single crochet produces a smaller stitch that leaves no holes. I prefer that one for amigurumi.
