In this crochet stitch tutorial I’ll be showing you how to make the single crochet DECREASE stitch. It’s not a difficult stitch, so don’t worry, you’ll be able to make it in no time!
The reason why I didn’t just say the “decrease” stitch instead of the “single crochet decrease” is because there’s also a half double crochet decrease and a double crochet decrease. They are different stitches and it’s important to know that.
First up is my YouTube video about the single crochet decrease stitch. Feel free to subscribe to my channel (it’s totally free!) and it would be lovely if you clicked on that cute like button below the video on YouTube.
Next up is my step by step pictures tutorial.
The only thing I have to add is that you should make sure you don’t pull the yarn overly tight when making decreases. That will cause the yarn to become thinner = you’ll have holes.

And that’s the single crochet decrease stitch! Not terribly difficult.
I would suggest you also learn how to make a half double crochet stitch because this one is used a LOT. It’s not a difficult stitch so I’m sure you’ll manage to learn it in no time!
