Learn how to sew the Christmas lady hair

My Christmas lady crochet pattern is a very very popular pattern. But some people struggle to sew the hair. So I made this tutorial to ensure everyone can sew the hair just as nicely.

Below this paragraph you’ll see a picture of my Christmas lady doll (first picture). With it are pictures of 2 other ladies of mine. Their hair is done the same way as the hair of the Christmas lady. (click on the text on the pictures to go to a page about that particular doll).

In this tutorial you’ll first see my YouTube video about sewing the hair. Below that you’ll find my step by step picture tutorial.

It would be lovely if you subscribed to my YouTube channel (totally free). This way you’ll always know immediately whenever there is a new video 😁

Below is the step by step picture tutorial. In the patterns of my dolls it always tells you how many strands of hair you need to cut. The patterns also tell you per how many you’ll need to sew the strands on the head. In this tutorial I used 20 strands of hair and they were sewn on the head per 4 pcs. You can of course choose a different color if you wish to do so. It doesn’t have to be the same color. It can be black, white, brown, yellow, … or even green or purple 😄. You can choose this yourself.

Use a tapestry needle that is not too thick.

The step by step picture tutorial:

Picture 1: pull a needle with yarn (same color as the hair) through the head till where you want the hairline to be

Picture 2: sew 4 strands of hair on the head

Picture 3: continuation of step 2 in picture 2

Picture 4: should look like this now

Picture 5: behind these you sew 4 more strands of hair the same way

Picture 6: should look like this now

Picture 7: repeat the previous steps till all hairs have been sewn on

Picture 8: hold the hairs on 1 side against the head in that way

Picture 9: pull a needle with yarn out of the head in that spot, go around the hair and back into the head (in the video it’s more clear)

Picture 10: do the same with the hairs on the other side of the head

Picture 11: make a ponytail with all the hairs together

Picture 12: insert the needle into the head till about 15mm or 0.6inch above the ponytail

Picture 13: twist the hair like that

Picture 14: hold the hair against the back of the head like that and secure in place with some stitches

Picture 15: cut the hair ends about 10mm above those stitches you made

In this last picture you can see the hat on the head. You can sew the hat in place but you can also just simply glue it in place. My other lady dolls have different hats. You secure those in place according to their pattern’s instructions.

Thank you very much for reading my tutorial 😁😁😁
