Christmas Ornament 9

Materials:

Yarn: light weight (3) yarn suitable for a 2mm crochet hook in:

• white
• metallic silver

Crochet hook: size 2mm

Tapestry needle – scissors – stitch marker – 80mm styrofoam ball

Abbreviations: (click on the stitch name to go to a tutorial about that stitch)

• Ch(s): chain(s)
• Sl st: slip stitch
• Sc: single crochet
• Inc: increase = make 2 single crochet in the same stitch

The color of yarn you are to use for your row is mentioned at the end of the row. When nothing is mentioned, use the same color as the previous row.

Work only in back or front loops when this is mentioned. When nothing is mentioned, work in both loops.

*2sc, inc, 2sc* repeat till the end = 2sc, inc, 2sc, 2sc, inc, 2sc, 2sc, inc, 2sc, …

*3sc, inc* repeat till the end = 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc, …

Pattern:

Row 1: 6sc in a magic ring with white

Row 2: inc in every stitch (12)

Row 3: *1sc, inc* repeat till end (18)

Row 4: *1sc, inc, 1sc* repeat till end (24)

Row 5: *3sc, inc* repeat till end (30)

Row 6: *2sc, inc, 2sc* repeat till end (36)

Row 7: *5sc, inc* repeat till end (42)

Row 8: *3sc, inc, 3sc* repeat till end (48)

Row 9: *7sc, inc* repeat till end (54)

Row 10-12: 1sc in every stitch (54)

Row 13: 1sc in every stitch (54) with metallic silver

Row 14: in back loops only: *3sc with white, 3sc with metallic silver* repeat till end (54)

Row 15: 2sc with metallic silver, then *3sc with white, 3sc with metallic silver* repeat till you have 1sc left. Make that last sc with metallic silver (54)

Row 16: 1sc in every front loop with metallic silver (54)

• yarn off but leave a long tail
• make the second half now:

Second half:

Row 1: 6sc in a magic ring with metallic silver

Row 2: inc in every stitch (12)

Row 3: 1sc in every back loop (12)

Row 4: 1sc in every stitch (12)

Row 5: in front loops only: *1sc, inc* repeat till end (18) with white

Row 6: *1sc, inc, 1sc* repeat till end (24)

Row 7: *3sc, inc* repeat till end (30)

Row 8: *2sc, inc, 2sc* repeat till end (36)

Row 9: *5sc, inc* repeat till end (42)

Row 10: *3sc, inc, 3sc* repeat till end (48)

Row 11: *7sc, inc* repeat till end (54)

Row 12-14: 1sc in every stitch (54)

Row 15: 1sc in every stitch (54) with metallic silver

Row 16-17-18: same as 14-15-16 of the first half of the ornament

• sl st in first stitch
• yarn off
• create a loop at the top of the second half of the ornament
• sew the 2 pieces around your styrofoam ball
