Supplies:

Yarn: light weight (3) yarn suitable for amigurumi and a size 2mm crochet hook in:

• white
• blue
• metallic silver

Crochet hook: 2mm

Stitch markers – tapestry needle – scissors

White sewing thread and needle

Styrofoam ball: 3inch/7.5cm diameter (you can use stuffing if you can’t find a styrofoam ball)

Bead: 8mm diameter – silver color

Rhinestone trim

Abbreviations: (click on the stitch name to go to a tutorial about that stitch)

• Sc: single crochet
• Inc: increase = make 2 single crochet in the same stitch

The color of yarn you are to use for your row is mentioned at the end of the row. When nothing is mentioned, use the same color as the previous row.

Work only in back or front loops when this is mentioned. When nothing is mentioned, work in both loops.

I used an invisible decrease and invisible increase stitch instead of normal decrease and increase stitches.

Pattern:

Row 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6) with light blue

Row 2: inc in every stitch (12)

Row 3: *1sc, inc* repeat till end (18)

Row 4: *1sc, inc, 1sc* repeat till end (24)

Row 5: *3sc, inc* repeat till end (30)

Row 6: *2sc, inc, 2sc* repeat till end (36)

Row 7: *5sc, inc* repeat till end (42)

Row 8: *3sc, inc, 3sc* repeat till end (48) with metallic silver

Row 9: *7sc, inc* repeat till end (54) with white – work in back loops only

Row 10: 1sc in every stitch (54)

Row 11: *17sc, inc* repeat till end (57)

Row 12: 1sc in every stitch (57) metallic silver

Row 13: *9sc, inc, 9sc* repeat till end (60) light blue – work in back loops only

Row 14-17: 1sc in every stitch (60)

• Sl st in the first stitch
• Yarn off but leave a long tail
• Make the other half of the ornament in the exact same way as the first half (= repeat row 1-17)

• Pictures of the following steps are below the last step on page 4
• Stuffing option: sew the 2 halves together and stuff the ball just before you close the ball completely
• Styrofoam ball option: place the styrofoam ball in the 2 halves and sew the 2 halves together with the ball in it
• Sew the rhinestone trim on the seam in the middle
• Make a loop with white yarn and a bead and attach to the top of the ball (make sure the loop is big enough to fit around the Christmas tree branch you will hang it on)
