Materials:

Yarn: light weight (3) yarn suitable for amigurumi and a size 2mm crochet hook in:

  • grey
  • white
  • metallic silver

Crochet hook: size 2mm

Stuffing – stitch marker – scissors – tapestry needle

Abbreviations:

Row examples:

*2sc, inc, 2sc* repeat till end = 2sc, inc, 2sc, 2sc, inc, 2sc, 2sc, inc, 2sc, ..

*3sc, inc* repeat till end = 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc, ..

The color of yarn you are to use for your row, is mentioned at the end of the row. When nothing is mentioned, use the same color as the previous row.

Row 2-5: 1sc in every stitch (6)

Row 6: *1sc, inc, 1sc* repeat till end (8)

Row 7: 1sc in every stitch (8)

Row 8: *3sc, inc* repeat till end (10)

Row 9: *2sc, inc, 2sc* repeat till end (12)

Row 10: *1sc, inc* repeat till end (18)

Row 11: *1sc, inc, 1sc* repeat till end (24)

Row 12: 1sc in every stitch (24)

Row 13: 1sc, dec, 1sc* repeat till end (18)

Row 14: *1sc, dec* repeat till end (12)

Row 15: 1sc in every stitch (12) with white

Row 16: 1sc in every stitch (12) with metallic silver

Row 17: 1sc in every stitch (12) with white

  • stuff now

Row 18: inc in every stitch (24) with grey

Row 19: *3sc, inc* repeat till end (30)

Row 20: 1sc in every stitch (30)

  • In the next row you need to switch colors: *2 stitches grey, 2 white, 2 metallic silver* repeat

Row 39: *3sc, inc* repeat till end (30) colors as described above

  • In the next row you need to switch colors the following way: stitches 1-2: grey, 3-4: white, 5-7: metallic silver, 8-9: grey, 10-12: white, 13-14: metallic silver, 15-16: grey, 17-19: white, 20-21: metallic silver, 22-24: grey, 25-26: white, 27-28: metallic silver, 29-31: grey, 32-33: white, 34-36: metallic silver
  • In the next row you need to switch colors the following way: stitches 1-2: grey, 3-4: white, 5-8: metallic silver, 9-10: grey, 11-14: white, 15-16: metallic silver, 17-18: grey, 19-22: white, 23-24: metallic silver, 25-28: grey, 29-30: white, 31-32: metallic silver, 33-36: grey, 37-38: white, 39-42: metallic silver

Row 40: *2sc, inc, 2sc* repeat till end (36) colors as described above

Row 41: *5sc, inc* repeat till end (42) colors as described above

Row 42-47: 1sc in each stitch (42) the color of each stitch should be the same color as the stitch below it

Row 48: *5sc, dec* repeat till end (36) the color of each stitch should be the same color as the stitch below it

Row 49: *2sc, dec, 2sc* repeat till end (30) the color of each stitch should be the same color as the stitch below it

Row 50: *3sc, dec* repeat till end (24) the color of each stitch should be the same color as the stitch below it

Row 51: *1sc, dec, 1sc* repeat till end (18) with grey

Row 52: *1sc, dec* repeat till end (12)

Row 53: 1sc in every stitch (12) with white

Row 54: 1sc in every stitch (12)

Row 55: 1sc in every stitch (12) with metallic silver

Row 56: 1sc in every stitch (12) with white

Row 57: inc in every stitch (24) with grey

Row 58: 1sc in every stitch (24)

Row 59: *1sc, dec, 1sc* repeat till end (18)

  • stuff now

Row 61: dec 6 times (6)

  • yarn off
The top:

Row 1: 6sc in a magic ring with metallic silver

Row 2: *1sc, inc, 1sc* repeat till end (8)

Row 3: 1sc in every stitch (8)

  • yarn off but leave a tail
  • use this tail to make a loop on top of the crocheted top piece. A loop that is big enough to fit around the branches of your Christmas tree
  • sew the crocheted top piece on the top of the ornament
  • to make the same ornament but smaller: use thinner yarn/ use a smaller crochet hook/ make it with a yarn under stitch
